Great Yarmouth BikeLife [2020]
Great Yarmouth BikeLife [2020]

“BikeLife” is often seen as a form of hooliganism, however this body of work showcases the local subculture from an inside perspective.

Great Yarmouth thrives during the summer season. However, what stays out of the holiday brochure is its popular bike and car scene. Often frowned upon, crowds gather in popular spots to rally and parade their vehicles, this is where I first met the people who are documented in this project. I was quickly enlightened about the communal passion for “BikeLife” and quickly met more and more people that associate with the subculture. From apprentice welders to hospital cleaners, “BikeLife” in Great Yarmouth proved to be non-discriminatory and I found that my personal connection to motorcycles granted me trust and access with the group, and in some cases, friendship.
